And WOW. It is very fast. Back and forward is instant. It has optimized use of the cache to save massive time. Autoupdates: much better than before.

Get it here. Remember, however, it is beta.

I actually tried Opera and got a free registration code not too long back, but I don't like much. The athesitics are too different for me to get used to (Netscape is like that too) and then there are a few little things I don't like about it. I agree it is a nice browser, but overall I still prefer Firefox.

However, I still keep infact different 8 browsers on my machine, because some are better for certain things than others. But for general purpose browsing, Firefox is king.

I've never had issues with Opera really. It does everything I need it to do and I've got a "registered" copy so it's all good ^_^

You've all bought into the Lie! The secret government wants you to use Opera. Firefox is the ultimate browser! Embrace the future! Free... your mind!

...

The next post is going to be some fool saying they're sticking with IE. I just know it.

I actually like IE on my older computers. Firefox runs slow as shit if you don't have craploads of memory (which is easy on a new machine, but on a P1, it hurts). IE renders prettier (things like the way it does borders, scrollbars, and lines). Also, tweaking its config is much easier than firefox.

IE isn't as bad as fanboys like to make it sound.

I only avoid IE like the plague because it's so easy for bugs and spyware and all that crap to infect.

Last year, my IE was literally taken over by some asshole adware fuckers that, no matter how many times I deleted the files, kept coming back. I was finally able to delete the last of it (some files hidden in both my comp's user account and a friend's account that is rarely used), but for awhile I couldn't hardly even use IE, it was so full of junk.

So you can see that I'm more than a little wary of the browser. I had to get Netscape 7.2 and then (when I heard of it) Firefox, and they've never given me that kind of trouble. My opinion on the matter isn't quite the mindless ravings of a fanboy.

Keeping IE safe from spywaye comes from disabing a few of its bigger holes. Simply hit tools->internet options and disable
1) Javascript. Bye, bye popups! If a page depends on JS, the author is an idiot so no point wasting my time viewing his site, and for the sites where a touch of it are useful, you can always just whitelist that one site.

2) Flash. I fucking hate flash, save for homestarrunner.com. Disabling it will boost performance greatly on an older (and even newer) machines, and mostly means you don't have to see annoying ads! The one bad thing about disabling it on IE is whenever one would load, IE gives you a message box saying "The page might not display probperly", which is annoying, but not as much so as the Flash itself.

3) Active X controls. Major secirity flaw that adds next to nothing to the brosing experience. I disable it completly.

4) Automatic downloads. Set it to prompt instead and then the only things that install are stuff you click OK on.

Doing those 4 things makes IE a fine browser.
