#1 A game Nitram never played!

It's hard to find one, as Nitram is fully a Nintendo/Sony fanboy. However Sony ONline found a game he'd never seen.

Nope, he'd never seen the joy of SquareSoft's ResEvil clone, which was also a testbed for some of the code in FF8. Amazingly, despite the dated graphics, the game remains as good as in 1998. Square's strong storyline holds up to the test of time and the gameplay is still a fun challenge. Aya is a strong protangonist, and the enemies are still equal in body-horror to ResEvil1.

Anyone else remember playing this classic?

'Classic' means the 8 bit era. This is merely not particularly current. And since I never had a console (other than that black & white one with all of its games hardwired back in the late '70s or thereabouts), no.

Since when does classic mean the 8-bit era, may I ask? I would call Super Mario World and Sonic the Hedgehog classic games.

Before y'all get into a fight over what Classic means, I am using it to imply a game over 10yrs old that was well-reviewed, sold a lot of copies, and changed something in how games were played. A Classic game is any game you remember enjoying when it came out, and is still enjoyable to play today.

For Parasite Eve, we had SquareSoft stepping away from their normal RPG, trying out Survival Horror. We had a testbed for more realistic polygonal characters walkin around, instead of just in BattleMode like FF7. We had free-form movement during battles, instead of two sides lined up. This was a HUGE change for SquareSoft, and while they did not keep all the changes, this 'testbed game' proved to be a fan favorite and well worth the money spent on it.

I was just being snarky there, use whatever definition you like. It's not like there's an 'official' one.

Well Frig, like all SquareSoft games, it's got all the right moves. I give the game 5/5

Solid storyline, internally consistant, split into 6 "days" of action. Easy-to-learn battle-mode, but challenging as you have the ability to move in between your attacks, and so do the enemies. Free roaming within scenes, but the World Map is limited to specific locations. Sqaure's famous use of FMV cutscenes.. Interesting Enemies, and Boss Battles that you can't just spray&pray. No puzzle games, but some ammo and equipment chests blend in too well with the background. Item Slots are limited, but you can get more, and you do have options for storing things you don't need. Moding weapons and Armored Vests also destroys them, so that gets rid of excess items as well. Best of all? You're in NYC on Xmas Eve.

And a bunch of US Navy ships blow up, according to the opening cutscene. Take that, Yankee pig dogs!

I never really got into this game, although that main theme was a pretty awesome piano piece and I enjoy listening to it.

Um... Parasite Eve has nothing to do with the US Navy. You're gonna want Aces of the Pacific or PTO or something similar if that's what you're after.

PE1 was all around fun, and PE2 was just as fun in different ways. I've never played any other PE games, though.

So what was the deal with all those ships and a carrier blowing up in the cutscene LadyTevar posted?

Dramatic scene of "lol villain" from the first game. It happened, but it wasn't a theme or feature of the storyline.

The battleship is the site of Day 6 and the Final Boss. So it is important, but it's not the Villain blowing it up.
