CTHelper is a plug-in support module installed with Creative Labs Sound Blaster devices to aid in 3rd party developing of plugins and software for the device. It's not essential overall but might be neccessary for some of your applications.

Mine's giving me trouble loading pages/IMs. Please see if it's my computer, or if I blame the connection. The problem is sometimes Nit's doing fine but I'm not.

One of the computers on our network pretty much has to have something. Our ISP keeps calling up complaining that we've got 1300 open connections on our Internet line or something, and there's no fucking way that should be possible. Spyware checks only turn up the normal array of tracking cookies. Here's the logfile from mine:

Nothing there seems odd or out of place.

#14 Re: HiJackThis! logs

Post by Rogue 9 »

Haven't done one of these in years, but I figure it's worth a shot. My parents' computer (running Vista) has gotten something nasty that's removed everything from the Start menu and made it extremely difficult to access Windows Explorer. It generates a standard phony antivirus that wants you to pay it to remove the problem (and is of course an obvious scam) when not in safe mode, and in safe mode there's still nothing in the Start menu and almost no desktop icons. I can get into Explorer via the recycle bin icon and navigate from there. Windows Defender and MalwareBytes both find a trojan, but having them remove it has little discernible effect; it only delays the hijacking for a few minutes on next startup. Here's the HijackThis! log:
