This is Adobe's new site they're launching, which looks to be a direct competitor with Google Apps. All the applications they have accessible are available to free accounts, and all are the usual office apps. What makes this noteworthy is that not only did Adobe manage to make very full-featured and easy to use web applications in Flash, they easily rival Google Apps or even the newest Microsoft Office for aesthetics and functionality both.
So far, fairly impressed.
Also, they have a Presentation and a Spreadsheet app available through their Labs link, if you want to check those out.

First impressions - much more nicely laid out than Google Apps, but doesn't quite have the same functionality in a few areas; something I ran into with their spreadsheet app was that it won't allow the addition of new sheets.
With that said though, so far their web-based apps are so far looking rather nice - it makes me wonder what Adobe has in store for this idea.
This is with a free account, FYI.
EDIT: Shiny and pretty do not good applications make. Google Apps flat-out kicks Adobe's Apps' asses fur functionality and speed.

I really need to finsih my dws project so we can kill these stupid web apps once and for all.
Office in the browser was a bad idea when Google did it, and it is a bad idea when Adobe does it.

Damn son. I have to use google docs almost daily for work, and they are SLOW. Excruciating slow. And the featurelist isn't impressive.
If Adobe is doing worse, they might as well just alt-f4 now. Google docs are barely usable themselves.

The sad part is that they're faster on my work computer than the installs of MS Office 2003.Destructionator XV wrote:Damn son. I have to use google docs almost daily for work, and they are SLOW. Excruciating slow. And the featurelist isn't impressive.
Yes, they're still on 2k3.
I'd say check it out to see for yourself; they had a few good ideas, but overall it's more "hey, this is slick" than "hey, I can use this."Destructionator XV wrote:If Adobe is doing worse, they might as well just alt-f4 now. Google docs are barely usable themselves.
