If it absolutely had to happen, there'd be a way. One possibilty is good old missles, just like we have today, except with powerful attittude thrusters and the same manner of heat sheilding that is used for space shuttle re-entry.

Alive? I'd say so. Like a parasite. It feeds off a host, can't live without it. Don't get me wrong, ethically I'm pro-choice, but this is not an abortion thread, and that is an arguement for another day. A human fetus is alive in the same sense that a bacteria is.
