A mage with d6 hitpoints who can cast ANY spell so long as it has been cast at him or someone near him at some point, with a high INT requirement and 4 skillpoints per level? No. I wouldn't anticipate that a blue mage would learn EVERY spell cast near them, especially since they must voluntarily su...

DnD 3.5 Basic Class
Something I remembered I had from a while ago. It never saw playtesting, since the group I played with disintegrated shortly after I finished writing. Thoughts, comments, critique, I want to hear it all.
And now, without further ado...

I hear stuff like that said a lot, but it always occurred to me: a word is meaningless save for what people imbue it with. The meanings of words are fluid, and do change. Popular opinion does define a word. Dictionaries at best are snapshots of this at the time of publishing. Edit: maybe that's the ...

As I've pointed out, that isn't elitism. Elitism is enjoying a superior legal, social, or economic status based due to membership in an elite group. What you are talking about is awareness and pride based on individual abilities, not elitism. In fact, this has been established earlier in the thread...

Name That Philosophy
So here's a little game inspired by a conversation I had the other day on the qualities of original thought. SO, we are going to see how much originality there is in original thought around here. Basically, if you don't subscribe to any particular clear-cut belief system (or are unaware that someone...

There's nothing wrong with elitism, provided you've got some kind of basis for it and don't expect other people to appreciate it. Otherwise, that's just arrogance. Arrogance, in my mind, is tantamount to self-delusion. Just setting yourself up for a fall. I'm more intelligent than a lot of people I ...

Re: WOW to reach the big screen
It's not so much that, but the style of Warcraft. If you play the games everything has a 'cartoon' feel to it. Compare it to other RTS or even MMORPG examples, and you see a particular type of style in Warcraft that few others have. Sure, WoW is very "toonish" compared to other MMOs, but I'm thinki...

Perhaps CG, ala The Spirits Within? A sort of realistic fake. Let's all keep in mind...Stofsk wrote:Depending on the format they choose to go with, WoW the Movie might be alright. I would expect them to go down the route of animation, because everything about Warcraft screams "Cartoon".

I took a page from Bruce Lee and used the Art of Playing Without Playing. I made it to round 34 without planting crops. Interestingly enough, when there were only two people left (husband and wife), a birth and death occured in the same year. Back to the farming screen, there was still the man and w...

Eyes in the Back of Your... Tongue?
The Source Tongue Being Tested as Tech-Brain Interface Tuesday, April 25, 2006 Associated Press PENSACOLA, Fla. — In their quest to create the super warrior of the future, some military researchers aren't focusing on organs like muscles or hearts. They're looking at tongues. By routing signals fr...

Gathered data is good and well, but again, that's what I'm talking about. You say: Polygamy in mormon communities I don't disagree that those things do happen. I know this. The data is fine. What I'm taking exception with is the interpretation. Especially since the most (or the most talked about) da...

Other things being equal (and, to a good first approximation, they are), when one man marries two women, some other man marries no woman. When one man marries three women, two other men don't marry. When one man marries four women, three other men don't marry. Monogamy gives everyone a shot at marr...
